Theta is a trading terminal for memecoins on Robinhood Chain. It lets you go long or short with USDG collateral and up to 5x leverage, or buy calls and puts where the most you can lose is the premium, on the tokens that trade on the chain's own Uniswap pools.

Most places that let you trade memecoins only let you buy them. Shorting a memecoin the tradfi way, by borrowing the token and selling it, doesn't work: nobody lends them, borrow rates spike, and a squeeze leaves the lender holding the loss. Theta takes the approach every major memecoin venue has converged on. Your position is a claim against a shared vault, priced from the market. That is how you short a $30M token without anyone having to lend it to you.

The other half of the idea is honesty about risk. Memecoin pools are thin. Every limit on this platform (how much leverage a token allows, how big a position can be, where you get liquidated) comes from measurable pool depth, and the terminal shows those numbers before you act, not after.

Quick start#

  1. Open the terminalGo to the terminal. Prices, charts and trades load without a wallet.
  2. Pick a marketClick a token in the watchlist, or press / and type its name. Use to move through the list.
  3. Read the numbersCheck pool liquidity and 24h volume in the stats row. The pill next to the token name tells you its leverage limit, or that the pool is too thin to trade.
  4. Build a quoteChoose Long or Short, enter collateral, pick leverage. The liquidation price updates as you move the slider, and the chart draws it as a red line.
  5. Connect your walletClick Connect wallet. Theta adds Robinhood Chain to your wallet if needed and shows your real USDG balance. No signature is requested.

The terminalLayout#

On a computer the terminal fills the whole window, edge to edge, in four panels divided by hairlines.

The Perps / Options switch in the header changes the ticket and the bottom panel between leveraged positions and options. On a phone the same switch sits above the price.

The full screen button next to the search box (or F) hides the browser chrome as well. Press Esc or F again to leave it. Full screen is not available on iPhone browsers or when the terminal is embedded in another page.

If your wallet is on the wrong network, a yellow banner appears under the header with a one-click fix.

Watchlist#

Each row shows the token's logo, ticker and name, a 7-day price sparkline (green if up over the window, red if down), the live price and the 24-hour change. Prices flash green or red for a moment when they move.

A small badge next to the ticker appears only when a token is limited: 2x or 3x for pools that cap leverage below the maximum, or Thin for pools too shallow to trade. No badge means the full 5x is available.

The search box matches tickers and names, and accepts a full contract address. Pasting the address of a token that is not listed tells you so rather than showing an empty chart.

Chart#

The chart shows real candles from the token's pricing pool, with volume bars underneath. The pool name (for example AI / NVDA) and timeframe appear top left with the current candle's open, high, low and close.

  • Timeframes: 1m, 5m, 15m, 1h and 1d. 15m is the default.
  • Crosshair: hover to read any candle's date, OHLC and volume, with the price at the cursor on the right axis.
  • Last price: a dashed line and a colored tag on the axis.
  • Between refreshes the newest candle absorbs every live price update, so the chart keeps moving even when new candles haven't been fetched yet.
  • Liquidation preview: a dashed red LIQ line shows where the quote on your ticket would be liquidated. If that price is outside the visible range, a tag with an arrow sits at the top or bottom edge instead.

Market stats#

The pill next to the token name summarises the tier: Shortable · 5x max, a lower limit, or Too thin to trade. Pool ↗ opens the pool on GeckoTerminal so you can check the numbers yourself.

Live trades#

The bottom panel lists the most recent 60 swaps in the selected token's pool, newest first, refreshed every 20 seconds. New rows slide in with a brief highlight.

Aggregators often route a trade through two hops, so you will see a buy and a sell with the same transaction link a second apart. Tiny swaps worth a few cents are usually bots and are shown as-is.

The Positions tab stays empty until trading launches.

Order ticket#

The ticket builds a full quote from live data. Every field updates as prices move.

On your phone#

The phone layout stacks the market, chart, watchlist and live trades in one scroll, with Long and Short buttons pinned to the bottom of the screen.

  • Tapping Long or Short opens the ticket as a bottom sheet. Drag the handle down, tap outside, or tap ✕ to close it.
  • Connect and network-switch steps are buttons. The final step is a swipe to confirm control, because a leveraged position deserves a deliberate gesture. It stays inactive until trading launches.
  • Most phone browsers have no wallet. Open Theta inside your wallet app's built-in browser (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, Rabby). The connect dialog links there directly once the site is on a public address.

Wallet & networkConnecting a wallet Live#

Theta finds every wallet installed in your browser using the EIP-6963 standard, so MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet, Phantom and others each appear by name. Browsers with a single older-style wallet are supported too.

  1. Click Connect walletIn the header, or on the order ticket.
  2. Pick your wallet and approveYour wallet asks to share your address with the site. That is the only approval.
  3. Robinhood Chain is added and selectedIf your wallet doesn't know Robinhood Chain, it asks to add it with the settings below, then switches to it. You can decline and still see your balances.
  4. Balances loadETH and USDG are read directly from the chain and refresh every 15 seconds.

Theta remembers which wallet you used and reconnects silently on your next visit if the wallet still trusts the site. Disconnect in the wallet dialog forgets it and asks the wallet to revoke the site's access where supported. Switching accounts inside your wallet updates the terminal immediately.

WalletConnect

Scanning a QR code with a phone wallet is not supported yet. Use a browser extension on desktop, or your wallet app's browser on mobile.

Robinhood Chain#

Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum layer 2 built by Robinhood on Arbitrum Nitro. It went live on 1 July 2026. Blocks arrive about every 100 milliseconds, gas is paid in ETH, and transaction data settles to Ethereum.

To move funds onto the chain, use the official bridges listed in Robinhood Chain's own documentation (Arbitrum bridge, LayerZero, Across, Relay and others). Withdrawals through the canonical Arbitrum bridge take about 7 days; third-party bridges are faster.

USDG collateral#

Positions will be collateralised in USDG, the Paxos-issued dollar stablecoin that is native to Robinhood Chain and holds most of the chain's stablecoin liquidity. USDC is not natively issued on the chain, and some bridges convert USDC to USDG on arrival.

Keep a little ETH in the same wallet for gas once trading is live. Reading balances costs nothing.

What we can and can't do#

Connecting is read-only. Only a Spot swap asks your wallet to send a transaction, and you confirm each one. The complete list of wallet requests Theta makes:

Balances are read from the public Robinhood Chain RPC, not through your wallet.

Never

Theta never asks you to sign a message, never asks for an unlimited approval, and never sends a transaction you didn't start from the Spot ticket. Approvals only ever go to KyberSwap's router, 0x6131B5fae19EA4f9D964eAc0408E4408b66337b5. If a site that looks like Theta asks for anything else, close it.

Trading mechanicsSpot swaps Live#

The Spot tab in the terminal (or app.html#spot) buys and sells every listed token for USDG, for real, today.

  • Best price across the chain. Robinhood Chain memecoins trade on Uniswap v3 and v4, Bankr, Pons and others. Swaps are routed by the KyberSwap aggregator, which splits the order across those pools for the best output.
  • Two transactions the first time. First an approval that lets KyberSwap's router spend exactly the amount you are swapping (never unlimited), then the swap itself. Tokens land directly in your wallet.
  • No custody. Theta has no contract in the path and never holds your funds. The swap goes from your wallet to KyberSwap's router (0x6131…37b5) and back.
  • Protection. You choose the maximum slippage (0.5% to 5%). If the price moves further before the swap lands, it cancels and only gas is spent. Swaps with more than 15% price impact are blocked, and above 3% the impact shows in amber.
  • Fees. The network fee is shown before you swap, usually a few cents to about $0.20, paid in ETH, so keep a little ETH in the wallet. Pool fees are included in the quote. Theta charges no fee on swaps.

Spot swaps are ordinary token trades. They carry no leverage and cannot be liquidated, but memecoins can lose most of their value quickly.

Trading mechanicsThe trading model Planned#

There are three ways to give someone short exposure on-chain. Theta uses the first.

In the vault model, the vault is the counterparty. When traders lose, the vault earns it; when traders win, the vault pays it. That is why every position must fit inside limits the vault can survive, which is what the rest of this section describes.

Collateral & margin#

Every position uses isolated margin: the collateral you post for one position can only be lost on that position. A bad trade on one token never touches another.

margin ratio = (position size × 10%) ÷ (collateral + unrealised PnL)

At open, unrealised PnL is zero, so the margin ratio equals leverage × 10%: 30% at 3x, 50% at 5x. As the trade moves against you, equity shrinks and the ratio climbs. At 100% the position is liquidated.

Leverage limits Live#

A token's leverage limit comes from its pricing pool, measured live. Market cap plays no part: a token can be worth $40M and trade in a pool that a $50K order would move 20%.

Because the inputs are live, limits change on their own. A token that trades almost nothing in the morning can show Too thin to trade, then open up to 5x once real volume returns. The watchlist badge and the ticket follow within a minute.

Why 5x and not 50x

The largest venues that list memecoin leverage cap it at 3x to 5x. At 50x, a 2% wick liquidates you, and on a thin pool a 2% wick costs an attacker very little to produce.

Liquidation price#

Your liquidation price is where the margin ratio reaches 100%, meaning your remaining equity equals the maintenance margin. With price P, leverage L and maintenance margin MMR = 10%:

Long:   liquidation = P × (1 + MMR − 1/L)
Short:  liquidation = P × (1 − MMR + 1/L)

Worked example. Short Artificial Inu at $0.2455 with $100 USDG at 3x. Position size is $300, about 1,222 AI. Liquidation is $0.2455 × (1 − 0.10 + 0.3333) = $0.3028, a 23.3% rise. At 5x it would be $0.2455 × 1.10 = $0.2701, only 10% away.

The liquidation price does not depend on how much collateral you post, only on leverage. More collateral at the same leverage means a bigger position, not a safer one.

Funding keeps longs and shorts in balance. When more size is long than short, longs pay shorts every hour, and the other way round. The rate rises the more lopsided the market gets and is capped so a single hour can't drain a position. The ticket will show the hourly amount before you open.

Only the 0.10% open fee is shown on today's ticket. Exact funding and liquidation-fee parameters will be published with the contracts.

Open-interest caps Live#

Open interest is the total size of all open positions in a market. Each market's cap is 10% of its pricing pool's liquidity. A pool holding $2.1M allows at most $210K of positions in total.

The cap exists because a liquidated position has to be unwound against the real market. If positions are larger than the pool can absorb, the vault inherits a loss it cannot close. That is exactly how the JELLY attack on Hyperliquid worked (see incidents). Today the ticket refuses any single quote above the cap; once trading is live the cap applies to everyone's positions combined.

When a position goes bad Planned#

Losses flow through a fixed sequence, published in advance so nobody decides outcomes on the day.

  1. Partial liquidationKeepers close part of the position to bring the margin ratio back under 100%, rather than the whole thing at once.
  2. Backstop vault, up to a per-market budgetThe vault takes over what the market can't, but only up to a fixed amount per market. It is never forced to inherit an unlimited position.
  3. Insurance fundFunded by liquidation fees. Covers losses beyond the backstop budget.
  4. Auto-deleveragingIf the fund can't cover it, the most profitable, most leveraged positions on the other side are reduced.
  5. Halt and settle at markLast resort: the market pauses and settles at the published mark price, using a method written down before launch.

OptionsOptions overview Live quotes#

Theta lets you buy calls and puts on every listed market whose pool is deep enough to trade. Switch the terminal to Options in the header (or press O, or open app.html#options).

An option is the right, not the obligation, to be paid the difference between the market price and a strike price at an expiry. You pay a premium up front. That premium is the most you can lose: there is no margin to top up and nothing to liquidate.

You can only buy options. Selling (writing) them means taking on unlimited risk against memecoin swings, so the other side of every option will be the Theta vault, inside open-interest caps.

Status

The option chain, premiums, breakevens and payoff chart are live and use real prices and real volatility. Buying an option needs the options vault contracts, so the buy button walks you through connecting and then says "Trading opens at launch".

The option chain#

In options mode the bottom panel opens on the Option chain for the selected token and expiry.

  • Shading marks options that are already in the money: calls below the price, puts above it.
  • Expiry buttons (1D, 3D, 7D, 14D) switch the whole chain. The line beside them shows the expiry date and the implied volatility used, and how many hourly price moves it was measured from.
  • Strikes sit on a fixed ladder: 17 strikes spaced by a round number close to 5% of the token's price (a 1, 2, 2.5 or 5 multiple of a power of ten), centred on the strike nearest the price. The ladder recentres as the price moves, but the strike you picked stays selected.
  • Premiums below $0.0001 show as <$0.0001. On a phone, tapping a premium opens the trade sheet.

How options are priced#

Premiums use the Black-Scholes model with a zero interest rate, fed by the token's live price and its own measured volatility. With price S, strike K, time to expiry T in years and implied volatility σ:

N is the standard normal distribution. Delta is N(d1) for a call and N(d1) − 1 for a put.

Volatility

  1. Take hourly pricesThe last close in each hour, from the pricing pool's 1-hour candles (or its 15-minute candles until those load), for up to the last 7 days.
  2. Measure the movesLog return between consecutive hours. A gap of n hours with no trades counts as one return divided by √n. At least 24 returns are needed.
  3. AnnualiseRealised volatility = standard deviation × √(24 × 365).
  4. QuoteImplied volatility = realised × 1.15 + 10 points, kept between 60% and 600%. Until enough candles have loaded, a 150% estimate is used and labelled as an estimate.

The markup exists because the vault is the seller and memecoin volatility jumps without warning. Memecoins are genuinely wild: on 15 September 2026 Artificial Inu's realised volatility was about 430% a year and Cash Cat's about 280%. That makes their options expensive, and that price is honest.

Time, fees and the numbers on the ticket

Expiry08:00 UTC. The 1D expiry is always at least 12 hours away; 3D, 7D and 14D are 2, 6 and 13 days after it.
Time to expiryExact time remaining, in years of 365 days.
FeePer token: the lower of 0.03% of the token price and 12.5% of the premium. Included in what you pay.
BreakevenCall: strike + premium + fee. Put: strike − premium − fee.
Chance of profitProbability, under the same model, that the price finishes past breakeven: N( [ln(S/BE) − σ²T/2] / (σ√T) ) for a call, one minus that for a put. A model estimate, not a promise.
Minimum premium0.1% of the token price. Strikes cheaper than that are too far out of the money to quote.
Open-interest capNotional (tokens controlled × price) counts against the same market cap as perps: 10% of pool liquidity.

Worked example. A 7-day at-the-money call on a $0.30 token at 500% implied volatility costs about $0.0812 per token (27.1% of the price). $50 buys the right on about 615 tokens. Breakeven is $0.3813, so the token must rise 27% by expiry to make money; the model gives that about a 24% chance. The matching put costs the same, breaks even at $0.2187 and has about a 46% chance, because big falls are likely at this volatility.

Options risk#

Read this

Most out-of-the-money options expire worthless. On memecoins, a short-dated option behaves more like a lottery ticket than insurance.

  • You can lose 100% of the premium, and on a quiet week you usually will, even when you called the direction right but not the size of the move.
  • Time works against buyers. Every hour closer to expiry, an option that isn't in the money is worth less.
  • High volatility means high premiums. A token that already swings 400% a year needs a very large move to pay off.
  • The chance of profit is a model. Real memecoin moves have fatter tails than the model assumes, in both directions.
  • Settlement price. Planned Options will settle on the oracle's time-weighted price over the last 30 minutes before expiry, so a single trade at 07:59 can't decide the payout.
  • Vault limits. Planned Total options notional per market counts against the open-interest cap, so the vault can always pay what it owes.

Listing rules#

A market is listed only when its pool can support short exposure without letting one account move the price to its advantage.

  • Depth over fame. Pool liquidity and trading volume decide, not market cap or social attention.
  • Cost to manipulate. Planned Before launch, each market needs the cost of moving its price index to be at least 10 times its open-interest cap.
  • Holder concentration. Planned Tokens where a few wallets control most of the supply are excluded.
  • Pool age. Planned Fresh launches wait until their pool has a trading history.
  • Delisting. Planned A market that falls below the rules first goes close-only, then settles at mark price under a published method.

The watchlist is refreshed from the chain's largest memecoins rather than hand-picked for promotion.

  • Pricing pool. Each token is priced from its deepest pool. Some are paired against WETH, some against a tokenized stock; Artificial Inu's deepest pool is AI / NVDA, so its dollar price also depends on the NVDA token.
  • Liquidity is the pricing pool's own reserve. Token-level totals reported by data providers can badly undercount Uniswap v4 pools.
  • Busy data source. The free API limits request rates, so requests go out at most one every 3 seconds and only for the market you are looking at. Live prices come from a second source, DexScreener, so they keep updating even while GeckoTerminal is throttled. If both push back, the terminal pauses for 15 seconds, then 30, then 60, and the feed pill turns yellow: Feed paused · retry 30s. Tabs share one price snapshot so opening several doesn't multiply requests.
  • Hidden tabs stop refreshing and catch up when you return.

Price oracle Planned#

Today's prices come from a data API, which is fine for a terminal and not acceptable for settling money. Robinhood Chain has no price feeds for launchpad memecoins, so Theta will run its own oracle. It is the hardest engineering problem in the project.

  1. On-chain time-weighted medianFrom the token's Uniswap v4 pools on Robinhood Chain. A median over time is far harder to push than the latest price.
  2. A signed off-chain indexAggregated from pool observations and any larger venues, signed by several independent keys held in hardware security modules. One stolen key must not be enough.
  3. Stock-paired tokensPool price in stock-token terms multiplied by Chainlink's feed for that stock, paused during corporate actions.
  4. On-chain guardsStaleness limits, a halt when sources disagree, a cap on how far price can move per update, and a cool-off after health checks to stop same-block tricks.
  5. Sequencer uptimeRobinhood Chain has one sequencer. After any downtime, liquidations wait out a grace period so nobody is liquidated on a stale price.
Design rule

No market may let a trader profit more than it would cost them to move that market's price. Caps and listing rules are sized from that.

Leveraged trading on memecoins can lose your entire collateral in minutes. Nothing on this site is financial advice.

  • Most memecoins go to zero. A May 2025 study of more than seven million pump.fun launches found 98.6% were pump-and-dumps or rugs.
  • Thin pools move violently. A few thousand dollars can move a small pool several percent, enough to reach a 5x liquidation.
  • Squeezes are coordinated. On-chain positions and liquidation prices are visible to everyone, and groups target crowded shorts.
  • Rugs are gaps. A creator pulling liquidity can move price past your liquidation level in one block. Shorts can profit from that; longs cannot get out.
  • Correlated crashes. On 10 October 2025, $19 billion of leveraged positions were liquidated in hours and the memecoin sector fell about 40% by year end.
  • Chain risk. Robinhood Chain runs a single sequencer; it stopped producing blocks for about 13 minutes on 4 September 2026.

Security#

  • Minimal permissions. No message signatures. Spot swaps use exact-amount approvals to KyberSwap's router only. See the full list of requests.
  • No custody. Theta never holds your funds. Once trading is live, collateral sits in audited contracts, not with the team.
  • Audits before money. Planned At least two independent audits plus a public audit contest, then a bug bounty, before the contracts accept real deposits.
  • Upgrades on a delay. Planned Contract changes wait behind a timelock, with an emergency pause that can stop new positions but cannot move funds.
  • Check the address. Bookmark the site. Theta will never message you first, never ask for a seed phrase, and never run a "support" chat that asks you to connect a wallet.

FAQ#

Can I trade right now?

Not yet. You can use the full terminal with live data, connect your wallet and build real quotes against your USDG balance. Opening positions needs the vault and perpetuals contracts, which are next on the roadmap.

Can I sell (write) options?

No. Selling options on memecoins carries unlimited risk, so users can only buy. The vault takes the other side inside open-interest caps.

Why are memecoin options so expensive?

Because memecoins move a lot. Premiums come from each token's own measured volatility, often 250% to 450% a year, plus a markup for the vault. A 7-day at-the-money option can cost a quarter of the token's price. See how options are priced.

What happens at expiry?

At 08:00 UTC on the expiry date, an option that finishes in the money pays the difference between the settlement price and the strike, in USDG, for every token it covers. Out-of-the-money options expire worthless. There is nothing to exercise.

Why does my wallet say the site wants to add a network?

Your wallet doesn't know Robinhood Chain yet. Compare the details with the network table, especially chain ID 4663 and the RPC address, then approve.

Why does a token show "Too thin to trade" when its market cap is large?

Limits come from the pool you would actually trade against, not from market cap. If that pool has under $50K of liquidity or under $25K of daily volume, a short there is too easy to squeeze. It updates automatically when conditions change.

Why is my liquidation price the same with $10 or $1,000 of collateral?

The liquidation price depends only on entry price and leverage. More collateral at the same leverage makes the position bigger in proportion, so the distance to liquidation stays the same. To move it further away, lower the leverage.

Why are there two trades with the same transaction link?

A router split one swap into two hops through the pool, for example selling NVDA for AI and AI for something else in one transaction.

The feed pill turned yellow and says "Feed paused".

The free data source asked the terminal to slow down. It retries automatically after a short wait, and the last prices stay on screen meanwhile.

My phone says no wallet was found.

Mobile browsers don't have wallet extensions. Open the site inside your wallet app's built-in browser. QR-code pairing is not supported yet.

Will there be a token?

Nothing has been announced. Treat any "Theta token" you see as a scam.

Auto-deleveraging (ADL)
Reducing the most profitable opposing positions when the insurance fund can't cover a loss.
Collateral
USDG you post to back a position. Lost if the position is liquidated.
Funding
An hourly payment from the crowded side of a market to the other side, keeping longs and shorts in balance.
Isolated margin
Each position has its own collateral; a loss on one can't spread to another.
Keeper
An automated service that executes orders and liquidations on-chain.
Leverage
Position size divided by collateral. 3x leverage on $100 controls a $300 position.
Liquidation
Forced closing of a position when its margin ratio reaches 100%.
Liquidity
USD value held in a trading pool. Deeper pools move less for the same order size.
Long
A position that gains when the price rises.
Maintenance margin
The minimum equity a position must keep, 10% of its size.
Margin ratio
Maintenance margin divided by current equity. Liquidation at 100%.

The price at expiry where an option has earned back what it cost: strike plus cost for a call, strike minus cost for a put.
Call

Cash-settled
Paid out in USDG rather than by delivering tokens.
Delta
How much an option's value moves for a $1 move in the token, per token covered.
European option
An option that pays only at expiry.
